Caregiver
If my caregiver gets sick or has a sudden personal emergency, is there a back-up caregiver for me? YES

CARE GIVERS NW guarantees you will have a professional caregiver for every scheduled appointment. In the event your assigned caregiver is unavailable, we can draw from our full staff of caregiver employees to provide you with a fully-trained and qualified substitute.



Zero Risk		 PERHAPS

Referral Services merely refer caregivers or care giving services to you. They do not employ caregivers or have immediate access or authority to assign substitute coverage for you. Their ability to react to your needs depends on the quality of service providers they have available in their referral base.



Substantial Risk		 DOUBTFUL

Many Independent Caregivers work alone. In the event of illness or personal emergencies, they typically do not have a back-up to take care of you.

Will you replace a caregiver if I'm not satisfied with the service or compatibility factor? YES

CARE GIVERS NW will promptly replace an assigned caregiver if you're dissatisfied in any way with the level of service or compatibility. CGNW has a large staff of professionally-trained caregivers and we pride ourselves on matching the exact right caregiver with each of our clients!

Once again, Referral Services simply refer. They do not employ caregivers, nor do they have the knowledge of each caregiver's personality and skill sets to provide you with the very best match for your needs.

Many Independent Caregivers are one-person operations. The caregiver you hire is likely the only one you have access to.

Are your caregivers covered by worker's compensation insurance in case they're injured on the job? YES

CARE GIVERS NW caregivers are our employees. Our worker's compensation insurance pays them for any on the job injuries. You will never have a claim filed against you.

Referral Agencies have many independent caregivers (one or two-person operations) in their referral base, many of whom do not carry their own worker's compensation insurance. Ask the Referral Agency if the caregivers they're referring have worker's compensation coverage.

Remember, many independent caregivers are one-person operations. They very often do not carry any worker's compensation or liability insurance. Any on the job injuries may result in a claim against you. Check with your homeowner's or renter's insurance to see if you will be covered in such an event.

Referral Agencies have many independent caregivers in their referral base, many of whom are not state licensed and do not pay for bonding or insurance of any kind. Ask the Referral Agency if they're referring caregivers with appropriate licensing and are bonded and insured.

Independent Caregivers are casual workers who may have (at best) a simple business license, but are rarely state licensed as caregivers or choose to pay for proper bonding and insurance coverage.

Are my caregivers given a criminal background check? YES

CARE GIVERS NW performs a criminal background check, drug test and extensive reference check on each caregiver before we employ them and assign them to your home.

Referral Agencies have no control over how caregivers they refer are evaluated for your safety. Additionally, criminal background checks can cost well over $100; most Referral Agencies will not take on that expense themselves. Ask the Referral Agency if the caregivers they refer submit to a background check before being assigned to come into your home.

Independent Caregivers typically do not provide you with background check documentation on themselves. It would be your responsibility to pay for a background check on an Independent Caregiver.
